ABOUT DOUG

It's interesting, things that from childhood touch you and remain most prominent in your mind.  Things you just can't seem to let go of. Things that no matter what else is consuming your day-to-day life, are so important, they remain in the forefront of your mind. For me, it was always about the majesty of the wildlife and landscape of Africa. I can't tell you why, or explain the lure of such an exotic primitive place, but from early childhood it bit me and was never going to let go.

I made my living as proprietor of an independent automotive service and repair business north of Boston. I think it served only to provide the means to the realization of a lifelong dream. Into my mid forties, the opportunity arose to finally realize the fulfillment of a dream I never wanted to awaken from. I thought to experience it once would satisfy the unexplainable appetence that continued to grow inside for so long. How wrong I was. It has proven impossible to extinguish the flame that has burned for longer than I can recall. Numerous trips to the region have never seemed enough. I can't imagine there could ever be enough.

I'm currently in the eighth inning of my life. My hope is this game goes to extra innings. There is so much more Africa to see. I have never been immersed in anything or any place that could possibly inspire me more.

As you view the photographs presented on this website, please do so knowing these truths: It's been the patience, it's about the passion, it's accepting the risk, it's all to do with the connection to ones life.
